This year we as Der Preis ist Heiss will join the Mietenwahnsinn Demo in the anarchist bloc. As an antiauthoritarian open assembly we see the importance of the fight against rents. High or low, they are part of private property, oppression, and security for the rich. Whoever reinforces the legitimacy of renting reinforces a world based on exploitation. Housing and property take money from the poor and gives it to the rich. Rents exist everywhere, from our households to our public gardens, to our parks and swimming pools in the form of entrance fees.

In times of high inflation the system trues to instrumentalize the poor in the context of the crisis, in order to make more profit. Cutting unemployment money while raising food prices, rent and living costs is the answer of the state to so called crisis. Gentrification is another tool and consequence of capitalism that tries to destroy and isolate communities and reshapes them based on race, class and patriarchy. State and capital apply counter-insurgency tactics to maintain the ongoing development process of gentrification by applying social controls, increasing surveillance and ordering cops to evict or murder anyone who does not fit a certain social or class status.

Only by fighting and resisting can we break down this system. Our tools are self-organization, squatting houses, expropriation and the creation of solidarity networks. We therefore meet at the high banner with the slogan „Nicht Fordern – Kämpfen!“ (Don’t demand, fight!) in the anarchist bloc at the Mietenwahnsinn Demo.
